Jameel Khalfan

Associate

As an Associate at Globespan, Jameel supports deal sourcing, evaluation of investment opportunities, due diligence, and portfolio company assistance.  Based in Boston, Jameel, who is a strong believer in the power of teamwork, brings expertise in strategic analysis and a passion for technology to help the firm’s entrepreneurs succeed.

Prior to joining Globespan, Jameel was a Product Manager at Microsoft where he drove product strategy and development, worked with sales and marketing teams to take new products to market, and delivered presentations and keynote addresses at technology conferences and trade shows. While at Microsoft, Jameel focused on social networking and online services in Windows Live, enterprise software and virtualization with the Desktop Optimization Pack, and the Windows Client annuity business.  He also underwent extensive training through the Marketing Leadership Recruitment program, a highly selective leadership development program for the top new hires, where he won an Outstanding Mentor Award.

Jameel held positions with Digitas and Orange before joining Microsoft.  At Digitas, he worked in the Strategic Alliances Group where he conducted analysis to create marketing partnerships between Digitas clients.  While at Orange, Jameel designed a program to analyze cell phone usage and traffic to predict user purchasing behavior.

Jameel says he knew he was destined to work in technology when his parents gave him his first PC in kindergarten. He started his career working with technology companies in development and project management, eventually ending up with a Microsoft group that specialized in acquiring and developing startup companies: “My favorite part about that job was watching the evolution of an idea into a product that helps people in their daily lives.”

Jameel earned a BS in Computer Science/Media Studies and a BS in Management Science with a concentration in Finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  While at MIT, Jameel was a recipient of the Ideas Competition International Technology Award.  Jameel approaches everything he does with great enthusiasm, and remains active in the MIT Alumni Association, serving as an Admissions Interviewer, Fundraising Officer, and Class Reunion Chair.

Today, Jameel enjoys playing guitar and learning how to play the piano.  And, while he calls Back Bay home, he loves to travel, and has visited 19 countries across 4 continents in the last year alone.
