“Working as a team with our entrepreneurs means understanding and taking the best of each person’s ideas, forming the best possible solution, and doing whatever it takes to reach the goals.” |
Trent Yang
Associate
As an Associate at Globespan, Trent supports deal sourcing, evaluation of investment opportunities, due diligence, and Asian business development. Based in Boston, Trent brings strategic analysis experience and a passion for technology to help the firm’s entrepreneurs succeed.
Prior to joining Globespan, Trent helped to start a technology-focused strategy group at Booz Allen Hamilton, where they advised Fortune 1000 and top government research labs on technology investments, road-mapping and R&D portfolio management.
Born in Shanghai, China as the son of two scientists, Trent grew up with science and technology as a part of his everyday life. He then developed a passion for investment when he started an investment club with a friend in high school. Today, the best part of working at Globespan is “staying at the cutting edge of technology, working with smart, passionate and ambitious people, and helping to shape the future of our community.” Trent focuses on “having an open dialogue with entrepreneurs to foster an atmosphere of trust and teamwork.” While he works to bring outside expertise and objective counseling, “at the same time, I put myself in their shoes and do whatever it takes to help them succeed.”
An accomplished student, Trent earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Economics from the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he graduated at the top of his department. He also won an undergraduate competition to fly on NASA’s astronaut training plane. Trent then won a fellowship for graduate studies at Draper Labs and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned two Masters degrees, one in Aerospace Engineering and another in Technology, Management and Policy.
Today, Trent enjoys traveling, cooking, tennis, a wide range of music from electronica to classical, reading and learning new ideas. He is also active with MIT alumni and entrepreneurial clubs, his network in the Chinese media, entertainment and manufacturing communities, and anything that involves mobile communication, next-generation media and space travel. |
