Yozo Suzuki
Director of Asian Business Development
As Director of Asian Business Development in Globespan's Boston office, Yozo helps portfolio companies to expand their businesses into Asia. He brings a strong combination of business development, LBO, and cultural experience to the job.
In his role at Globespan, Yozo believes that "trust is most important" in building productive relationships with the firm's entrepreneurs, and teamwork stems from leveraging the different and complementary skill sets and experience of the individuals. As he works with entrepreneurs in this fast-paced technology environment, Yozo is often reminded of a quote attributed to Charles Darwin: "It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change."
Prior to joining Globespan, Yozo was a LBO professional at Unison Capital, a private equity investment firm in Japan, where he managed acquisitions and LBO activities. In a recent project, he sold a portfolio company to GMO Internet, a leading Internet provider.
Prior to Unison, Yozo was a Business Development Manager at Mitsubishi Corporation, where he managed business development for the Plastic Optical Fiber division of Asahi Glass. He launched a strategic alliance with Net One Systems to source networking equipment from Cisco Systems and negotiated with a contract manufacturer in Taiwan to reduce assembly costs for fiber and connectors. Yozo was also involved in Mitsubishi's high-end PCB, mobile phone, and switch and router businesses. In coordinating global operations, he worked with Nokia and Ericsson in Europe and manufacturers in Taiwan, Korea and China.
Yozo earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Commerce from Waseda University and an MBA from the Yale School of Management. Born in Tokyo, Yozo currently lives in Boston, enjoying snow boarding, paragliding, swimming and soccer. |
